XUAN WU HOSPITAL OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

 

Founded in 1971, it is a general Traditional Chinese Medicine (T.C.M.) hospital playing the role of therapeutics, teaching, researches, prophylaxis and convalescence. The hospital has a good reputation in China.

Located in the busier section of south Beijing, and has transport facilities. There are 7 wards consisting of 300 beds, among these, two special wards the very famous vascular ward and the Moist Exposed Burn Therapy (MEBT) ward. The average number of outpatients everyday is about 1,200. There are now 25 clinical and medical technique departments, such as internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, acupuncture, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology, oncology, etc. There are more than 50 special clinics run by a galaxy of talents.

There are 600 staff including 450 medical and technical workers, 51 director and deputy director doctors, 2 famous old doctors of the country, 8 famous doctors of Beijing, as well as advanced medical equipments.

This hospital has carried out 19 research programs pertaining to nation, municipality and district including 2 key national programs. The hospital now promotes therapy level with scientific research work. It has paid great attention to the particulars of T.C.M. and has developed 70 T.C.M. preparations.

Appointed as a clinical training base of Beijing Union College of T.C.M. and Beijing International Acupuncture and Moxibustion Training Center, in recent years, it has received many guests from over then countries and regions. They visited, studied Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, and Chinese Medical Tuinaology. The hospital has also opened a special clinic for foreigners.

In 1992, this hospital was listed as one of the 100 exemplary T.C.M. hospitals in the country by the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Management Bureau. "Patient highest, quality first, Unite as one and vital T.C.M." is the purpose of the hospital.
